The 2009-2010 Scholastic Season Is Underway
Our tournaments are run by a USCF certified Tournament Director. All tournaments are rated by the USCF and require USCF membership. This is currently $16 per year for under age 13 and $20 for under age 16. It is good for any tournament in the USA!
We typically play a five round Swiss System G/30 (30 minutes each player per game). We typically have five sections K-1,K-3, K-5, K-12 and OPEN. The Open section is for players USCF rated > 1000.
Our tournaments start promptly at 9:30 AM and we try to finish by 4:30 PM. We offer half-point advance BYEs in any round. We provide advance on-line registration to ensure an on time start, but payments must still be made in person.
For our May tournament we will have trophies through seventh place for K-3, K-5 and K-12 sections. We will have trophies for top three palces in the Open section and top three K-1 players. K-1 players will be combined w/ K-3. We also offer team trophies through third place for K-3,K-5 and K-12 sections. In addition, to keep our lower rated players motivated and coming back each month, we offer trophies to the top three players in the "Under" section of each group. The "Under" section is simply the lower half (by rating) of each group. We also have awards for Biggest Upset in each section. Our May tournament is also the last tournament for the 2009-2010 scholastic season and our Grand Prix trophies will be awarded to the top 10 players in K-1, K-3, K-5, K-12 and the Open section.
Each year we hold a an East Florida Regional Championship. These prestigious tournaments offer larger trophies to our champions. At year end, we provide Grand Prix trophies to the top performing players for the year. This is based on total points earned over the board (no BYE or forfeit points) for all tournaments. Any points scored while playing in the Open section will count towards the Grand Prix.
